As well as listing basic genres like comedy, action, horror, and so on, it also highlights collections based on the odd holiday (like Earth Day). Now, instead of just listing these categories in the same order for everyone, the top three choices will be customized to individual users. <\/p>\n<figure class=\"e-image\">\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/demo6.aiwalls.com\/imgs\/tech\/0423\/image__58_1471.jpg\"><figcaption><em>Netflix\u2019s old Category row. Now these sections are a part of the hub menu that you can select from the left rail.<\/em><\/figcaption><cite>Image: Netflix<\/cite><\/p>\n<p id=\"45uINM\">It\u2019s not clear, though, how specific Netflix is going to get with its recommendations \u2014 which is a bit of a shame. You may not be aware, but Netflix categorizes its content using thousands of incredibly granular \u201cgenres,\u201d from \u201cCritically-acclaimed Goofy Movies from the 1980s\u201d to \u201cRaunchy Slasher and Serial Killer Movies\u201d and \u201cWar Movies for ages 8 to 10.\u201d <\/p>\n<p id=\"PPOW2d\">The company uses these categories to recommend new content, but you can also load them manually if you like. However, based on the press release and images Netflix is sharing about its new Category Hub, it&#8217;s keeping its recommendations fairly broad and basic, and your experience of scrolling through the app\u2019s usual rows will otherwise remain the same. <\/p>\n<p id=\"4IM8mm\">In my opinion, that\u2019s cowardice! If Netflix knows I have a deep and abiding love for \u201c20th Century Period Pieces for Hopeless Romantics\u201d then why not tell me about it!
