While it\u2019s not someone that will appeal to everyone, Steam\u2019s Remote Play feature has made great strides since it came out of beta. While the feature was initially limited to Steam Link devices, Remote Play is now widely available through Steam Link apps on phones, tablets, and even built straight into smart TVs. With the press of a button, you can start streaming a game straight from your PC onto your device of choice.<\/p>\n

Since its arrival though, Valve has been busy analyse how and when Steam Remote Play is being used, discovering certain platforms are popular to use within specific genres. Phone and tablet users prefer to play RPGs, strategy, adventure, visual novel, and game games on their mobile devices, for example.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

However, as you can imagine there are a ton of games on Steam which aren\u2019t particularly well suited to playing on a mobile phone. In order to help with this, Valve has created custom touch screen configurations for more than 100 of the most commonly played Steam Remote Play titles, designing custom configs which can then be used by other developers and users to fine-tune gameplay on mobile devices.<\/p>\n

Stardew Valley on PC is a fine example. The farming management game has fairly lacklustre gamepad controls (it hasn\u2019t been designed for controllers like the console version) and it translates even worse to a touchscreen. Valve has created a custom layout design to allow fast access to tools, a big \u2018X\u2019 to allow players to use something quickly, as well turning the whole screen into a trackpad for managing the inventory.<\/p>\n

Users have previously been able to devise and share their own control schemes, but this list of more than 100 games have been specifically optimised by Valve. New store hubs have also been created for phone, tablet, and TV users, as well as new Library filters which allow users to separate out games designed for the particular device they’re on.<\/p>\n
